Skin of Color Aesthetics
Skin of color (SOC) is typically used to describe the skin of individuals of Native American, Middle Eastern, Hispanic, Asian, and/or African descent. Due to the increased presence of pigment (melanin) in these skin types, many skin conditions tend to present differently in SOC compared to white skin. This is especially important given that it is estimated by the year 2050 it is projected that over half of the US population will be individuals with skin of color.
At SkinMed Institute, we recognize the importance of a tailored and customized approach to treating our patient’s skin health needs. Our board-certified dermatologists possess the expertise to not only assess the unique anatomical and biological needs in skin of color, but also to design tailored treatment plans that are both safe and effective for patients with skin of color. We have also hand selected laser technology that will allow us to safely serve the needs of patients with all skin tones, including those with skin of color.
