Scar Treatments

A scar is the body’s reaction to a trauma of the skin, and usually appear light pink or brown. Scars are formed as a result of the body creating collagen, a fibrous protein, to repair the skin. A scar typically develops beneath a scab during the healing process and can be itchy, sensitive and even painful.

There are in-office treatment options available for patients who wish to minimize the appearance and/or decrease sensitivity of a scar. Depending on the patient’s skin health and the nature of the scar, a tailored treatment plan will be designed by your board-certified dermatologist to address each patient’s unique scar characteristics. Treatment plans usually include lasers to improve texture and color as well as injections to flatten a hypertrophic scar as well as at-home treatments such as silicone tape or gel with SPF.

The in-office technology we leverage for improving the appearance of hyperpigmented and hypertrophic scars include:

  • Fraxel® Dual (1550/1927)

  • Candela V-Beam® Perfecta

  • Picoway® Picosecond and fractional picosecond laser

  • Microneedling
