Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal can reduce up to 80% of the hair in the treated area, providing both convenience and also comfort for patients who are facing conditions like folliculitis. At SkinMed Institute we use one of industry’s most effective, safe, and advanced laser technologies (Gentlemax Pro®) to permanently reduce unwanted hair for men and women with all skin tones ranging from I-VI on the Fitzpatrick scale (those with both light and dark skin types).
We use FDA-approved lasers: 755 nm Alexandrite as well as the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser for permanently reducing unwanted hair. The laser passes over the skin and finds the pigment deep within the hair follicle called melanin. The laser heats up the melanin and in turn these damages the hair follicle. After several treatments the follicle is completely destroyed, and no more hair will grow.
Most patients will need a series of 6-8 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Areas of the body with the thickest, coarsest hair respond the quickest and will usually require fewer treatments than areas with finer hair. This makes the bikini area, legs and underarms excellent candidates for laser hair removal and you can expect significant results.
